Thoracic spine arachnoiditis and arachnoid cysts following aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage: A Case Report

چکیده
Neurological syndromes following arachnoid cyst is a rear complication of aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage which is less than 1%. The best treatment option is complete removal of these bubbles. Posterior cysts are accessible to complete surgical resection without spinal cord damage. Anterior cysts are often managed with a cystoperitoneal shunt. However, Patients with associated arachnoiditis usually experience an incomplete recovery. We report a 48-year-old male who complained of gait disturbances and dysuria 16 months after subarachnoid haemorrhage. Clinical history, plain radiographs, MRI study of the patient was collected. A review of the literature was also described. The patient was managed by fenestration of the arachnoid cysts, symptoms gradually resolved in his gait disturbance and muscle strength. However, dysuria was not improved. In our daily practice, Arachnoid cysts due to adhesive arachnoiditis should be recognized as a late complication of subarachnoid haemorrhage.

Delayed Spinal Arachnoiditis Following Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: A Case Report
Spinal arachnoiditis (SA) is a rare and delayed complication of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). We present a case of delayed SA associated with thoracic and lumbar arachnoid cysts in a patient with aSAH secondary to a ruptured vertebral artery aneurysm. The patient underwent a thoracic laminectomy for decompression of the spinal cord, lysis of arachnoid adhesions, and fenestration of...

We present the case of a 55-year-old woman with diffuse adhesive arachnoiditis in the posterior fossa and cervicothoracic spine following posterior inferior cerebellar artery aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). She underwent aneurysm clipping with subsequent gradual neurologic decline associated with sensory disturbances, gait ataxia, and spastic paraparesis. Magnetic resonance imaging re...

A 66-year-old woman with primary Sjogren syndrome developed syringomyelia following two episodes of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) due to the rupture of basilar artery aneurysms. Gait disturbance and abnormal sensation with pain over the foot and abdomen appeared 3 years after the last SAH. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging revealed a syringomyelia throughout the thoracic cord, from the T2 to T11 ...
متن کاملShould we operate all extradural spinal arachnoid cysts? Report of a case.
Spinal canal extradural arachnoid cyst is an uncommon, expanding lesion which may communicate with the subarachnoid space. They may be either intra or extradural with intradural cysts being less common. Spinal arachnoid cysts are usually in the thoracic spine, and they may cause symptoms due to spinal cord compression. Although surgery is the preferred way of management, there are reported case...

The purpose of the present communication is to describe two patients, one with a congenital extradural and one with a congenital intradural arachnoid cyst of the spine and to review the relevant literature. Congenital spinal arachnoid cyst is a very rare cause of spinal cord compression. It is one of the most favourable spinal lesions for surgical removal and recovery of neurological function. ...
